The Avant Garden Art gallery is just one of the many treasures of Northwoods. We are a congregation of many creative people, artists included, and we like to share our creations. The gallery was originally created for the artists of Northwoods.

Northwoods will be hosting The Power of Hope Project in April. This exhibit features art by Refugee mothers and children held in a detention facility in Texas. Therefore we are asking that artist create works around the Theme of Hope for April.The reception will be April 11. Here is the call for art announcemnt:

The Power of Hope – Refugee Art/Reflections

Artists! We are excited to announce that Northwoods UU Church will be hosting The Power of Hope Project for the full month of April. The Power of Hope Project features art/reflections by Refugee mothers and children while they were incarcerated inside an immigrant family detention facility in Texas. The exhibit includes 90 images, in varying sizes, as Giclee watercolor prints made from digital images of the original artwork created by the mothers and children between March 15, 2015 and Dec.6, 2016

Much is being planned for this month of Hope. April 4th we will kick off the month with the opening of this exhibit in our Sanctuary. The Rev. Dr. Helen Boursier, PhD., creator of this project will serve as out guest speaker. Then Dr. Boursier will preach our two services on April 5.

Here is where you come in. We are asking that you create works art around the Theme of Hope. Your works will be on display for sale April 11th at our Northwoods Gallery Reception.

Let’s make this a very special time for our church and the larger community.
