Gay Lynn Pierce, Religious Education Coordinator


Gay Lynn Pierce, who has been a member of Northwoods unitarian Universalist church for the past 17 years, has taken the position of Coordinator of Religious Education. She was raised in the Houston area and currently lives in Willis, with her wife , 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Their son, is away at college attending Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio.

Gay Lynn comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in both church life and education. After 31 years of teaching deaf and hard of hearing children, she recently retired from the Aldine Independent School District. During that time, she taught Preschool and Elementary students in all areas. In addition, she led teaching teams, presented at conferences, and wrote and implemented grants. Her life at Northwoods has included teaching religious education classes from Preschool through Junior High, teaching during summer camp, serving on the Religious Education Committee, serving on the nominating and search committees, and serving as Board President.

She sees her job as a perfect blend of service, working with families, playing with children and youth, and making a difference all rolled in to a beautiful package. She is excited to be part of the staff of Northwoods.
