The Service Auction is the largest fund-raising event for Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church.
But just as importantly, it is a FUN-raiser, helping to bring Northwoods people together all year long.
When you sign up for dinners, parties, classes, hikes, or contests, you get to know others in small groups and informal settings.

The 2024 Service Auction event was a success, and it’s not over!

There will be opportunities to participate in open sign up events all year long. Keep an eye out! Every time you join a Sign Up event, our net income increases – have fun, support Northwoods, and most importantly, spend time with like-minded friends!

Here are the next few open events (click the title for more information):

  • Camp Taco: Join us around the fire pit for a fun camp-themed evening! There will be a taco bar, salsa flights, food fights (just kidding), queso flights, a s’more bar, and camp-themed libations. Bring your favorite camp songs and ghost stories! Children are welcome at this party! Event in Spring. DATE: Saturday, March 1, 2025 – 5:00 PM. HOSTED BY: Jane Zachritz and Mark Holt.
  • Irish Dinner: Erin go Bragh! Get ready for St. Patrick’s day by trying a bounty of Irish dishes at the home of Terry and Hal Meyer. It’s like a trip to the Emerald Isle without the airfare! Wear Green! Event in Spring. DATE CHANGED TO: Friday, March 7, 2025 – 6:30 PM. HOSTED BY: Terry Meyer.
  • Second Annual Liars’ Club Dinner: This turkey dinner (who’s the turkey?) may or may not include all the fixings—it’s the Liars’ Club, after all! Guests will bring dishes requested by the hosts. Enjoy short and tall tales (prompts may be provided) and maybe a round of “Can you top this?” Meet your fellow prevaricators and see if there’s a prize for the tallest tale! Truth-tellers, check your qualms at the door. Lies, damned lies, and statistics—especially with confusing charts—are welcome. Join us for this beloved tradition. That’s no lie!   • An Afternoon of Woo-Woo: Tell your story of an unexplained paranormal experience. A precognitive dream? A vision? A voice? A UFO? A smell of a lost loved one? My door is open to hear and share those moments. Listeners welcome. Non-alcoholic. Tea, drinks and nibbles (I don’t buy soda so if that’s your choice please bring it). Alcohol-free event in Spring.   • Get Happy Being Blue: Join Rusty, Takis, and Susan the Black at Willie and Molli’s for a night of blue-themed fun! Start with blue drinks and the Blue Food Challenge—bring a blue appetizer or dessert, but no blue dye! Get creative with color or justification. Prizes for the tastiest entries! Enjoy live blues music from Willie B, Rusty, and Molli before teaming up to write a verse for our first Nothing But the Blues song. Event in The Woodlands. DATE: Saturday, March 29, 2025 – 6:30 PM.   • Treasure Chest Game: New from your Service Auction team! Pay an entry fee for a key—if it opens a treasure chest, you win the prize inside! All used keys go into a drawing for the Grand Prize. Buy extra keys at the door to boost your chances. Snacks, drinks, and pirate costumes encouraged. Kids welcome!
