    Your location:

  • Where can I park? We have a parking lot behind the church. On busy days, you can also park at Tamarac Park next door.
  • What time should I be there? It’s best to arrive five or ten minutes before the service begins. We currently have one service at 10:30 a.m.
  • Can I come early? Certainly! Come pour a cup of tea or coffee before or after the service.
  • How can I enter the building? The front door is at the bend in the building.
  • Can my children come with me? Yes, of course! They may stay with you through the service or join other children when Religious Education classes leave the sanctuary part-way through the service. You might want to stay with a fussy child in the family room, where you may enjoy listening and watching the service through the window.
  • What should I wear? What kind of clothing are you comfortable in? Some of us wear “Sunday go to meeting finery” and some wear bluejeans. Most of us try to look our best, but we have no dress code; parishioners dress more or less according to the weather and their own fashion sense!
We ask for essential modesty (if your mother doesn’t want to see you in it, we don’t either!) and cleanliness (likewise!). Please do wear shoes of some kind, or sandals.
Because some of us are allergic to perfume, please leave your scent for other activities! We won’t toss you out, but more of us will welcome you if you don’t wear perfume.
  • How long is the worship service? Usually about an hour.
  • What do I need to know to participate in worship?
    • Be respectful of others…some like it quiet before the service.
    • Some of our hymns are printed in the order of service, and don’t have written out music. Go with the flow.
    • Dancing in church is okay, but not required!
    • We often remain to hear the music after the end of the service. It’s your choice.
    • We are exuberant in our reactions to music, testimonials, and other parts of the service. We might clap or cheer.
    • When the worship leader invites you to sing or move or clap or dance, go ahead and join in! It’s also okay to just watch or listen.
    • Join us after the service for coffee/tea time. We’d love to chat with you!
  • Do you kneel in church? No.
  • Do I need to stand for hymns? No, please be as comfortable as you wish.
  • What is a chalice? At the beginning of every worship service and often at the beginning of a gathering of Unitarian Universalists, we light a chalice. Here’s an explanation of the chalice symbol.
  • Do you say a creed? While we do not have a creed, we say an affirmation together. It is printed in the order of worship.
  • Should I contribute to the offering? You may contribute as much or as little as you wish. We will gratefully receive your offering. When we celebrate a Share the Plate offering, all cash donations and designated checks will be given to the charity announced before the offering is received. You designate a Share the Plate check by writing “Share the Plate” on the memo line.
  • What do I call the Minister? You may address the Minister as “Reverend Sarah.”
